LCSD1 Music Department

LCSD1 Music Department offers a comprehensive K-12 music program. Course offerings include K-6 general music, 5-12 Band, 4-12 Orchestra, and 7-12 Choir classes. Students who take music have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of musical performances including concerts at all levels, programs, all-city events and state or regional events. In addition to performance, emphasis is also placed on the musical growth for all students. The development of the skills of music require self-discipline, critical thinking skills and a love of lifelong learning. Every student should have an equal opportunity to study music and find avenues of growth to develop as far as their abilities, needs and interests will permit.

Theatre Department

The goal of Theatre classes is to provide an overview of theatre history and the industry. Students will explore the rich history of theatre development and acting theories. In addition, performing and behind the scenes roles are explored in performance and project-based hands-on units.

Acting, make-up, costuming, theatre marketing, stagecraft, lighting and play writing are among the many courses and units to explore in the LCSD1 curriculum and course selections. Students participate in hands on performances for peers and represent their schools in play productions for our community.
