Excellence In Our Schools

Alta Vista Elementary recognized as model PLC school

Alta Vista Elementary School was recently recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement. The school’s implementation of the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work® process—which emphasizes a focus on learning, collaboration and results—has played a role in improving outcomes for students.

Alta Vista Principal Brook Yearsley attributes the success and recognition due to the staff’s collaborative and dedicated work.

Alta Vista is one of 29 schools in Wyoming to be recognized for this achievement. Schools must demonstrate a long-term commitment to PLC practices, implement them for at least three years and show clear evidence of improved student learning.

“I am humbled by the collaboration and dedication of our staff in being recognized as a PLC Model School,” Yearsley said. “Our team meets students where they are and continually builds their knowledge and skills to support lifelong success. They remain committed to refining their craft and challenging one another to be the best they can be—for the betterment of our students. I am incredibly proud of this amazing staff and the work they do year-round to help students succeed.”

According to the Champions of PLC at Work®, recognized schools demonstrate a commitment to helping students achieve at high levels. Alta Vista is now listed on allthingsplc.info, where model PLC schools share strategies, structures and performance with other educators.
